Etna Sunset Tour
Etna Sunset Tour
Golden Light & Volcanic Landscapes
Trekking Tour
This sunset hike is a unique experience that immerses you in the most untouched and evocative side of Mount Etna, the west side. Your adventure begins with a guided visit to an Etnean lava cave, where you’ll discover how ancient eruptions carved tunnels beneath the volcanic surface. Equipped with helmets and lights, you explore the cave’s natural formations and learn about the fascinating underground world shaped by Etna’s past activity.
After the cave visit, the trek starts on a quiet woodland path. The late-afternoon light filtering through the pines sets the pace for a gentle ascent of about 7 km with a 200-meter elevation gain. As the forest opens, the landscape dramatically shifts: volcanic cones formed in 1974, dark lava ridges and wide black fields narrate the volcano’s continuous transformation.
Reaching the top of the main cone, you’ll enjoy sweeping views over Sicily’s inland valleys. The sunset from the crater rim is unforgettable, painting the lava with warm, golden tones.
This experience is available from May to October, with departure times adjusted to the sunset. The return at twilight through the woods completes this atmospheric 8–9 hour adventure.
For individuals, groups of friends, or families who want to discover the beauty of Etna with a naturalistic guide ready to answer all your questions. Easy level, accessible to everyone. Not recommended for people with respiratory or cardiovascular issues due to the altitude.
