Hiking to the top is one of the most exciting experiences you can have: lunar landscapes, volcanic fields, basalts, recent lava flows, fumaroles and the amazing active craters.

At the moment it is not possible to climb to the summit craters due to the restrictions imposed by the authorities due to frequent volcanic activity. In any case it remains a sensational experience to do absolutely. You will be accompanied by volcanological guides, the only authorized and competent to make you live a unique and safe experience.

PROGRAM

• Meet at Refuge Sapienza, altitude 1900 m , to climb by cable car up to 2500 m.
• Hiking up to 3,000 m (variable) to the old refuge destroyed by recent eruptions. Base Crater SE (southeast).
• This excursion includes the visit of two recently extinct craters characterized by fumarole activity, a lava tunnel and the spectacular Bove Valley.
• Slope + 500m, Duration 5 hours, Distance 7 km, Difficulty EE (hiker).
• Tariff in a group 65 € + 50 € cable car cost. The group is confirmed with a minimum of 4 people. Private tour on request.

• Mountain equipment, shoes, sticks, helmet
• A picnic: sandwich, water, fruit
• The excursion may be modified or cancelled at any time for safety reasons due to volcanic activity or weather conditions.
• WARNING: not suitable for people with asthmatic problems, cardiovascular. Trekking requires physical effort.  It may not be suitable for people who do not exercise regularly or who are not accustomed to significant slope..
